Vintage Gauri Mukhakriti

This vintage brass Mukhakriti (mask) with a peaked crown represents Goddess Gauri also more commonly known as Parvati. She has a very calming and serene face and wears elaborate jewelry around her neck and ears. The piece is sourced from Northern Maharashtra and is estimated to be from the early 20th century. Use of Gauri Heads/Masks in Indian Tradition: Gauri (another name for Parvati) is the consort of Lord Shiva and the epitome of marital fidelity and devotion.
