Handcrafted Garuda
This is an intricately carved wooden statue of Garuda, also described as the king of birds from "The Blue Trunk Select" collection. He is the vahana of Lord Vishnu and also the chalak(chauffeur) of his chariot. Here he is depicted in his anthropomorphic form (man with wings and some bird features) with his hands outsretched to hold the reins of the chariot. He wears a red veshti and a traditional ceremonial crown, with a Vaishnavite tilak on his forehead. The piece is colored in contrasting rustic gold and red to give it a divine look.
