Vintage Deepalakshmi Lamp
A large sized vintage Deepalakshmi(lady lamp) sourced from North Tamilnadu that is over 70 years old. The piece is cast in great detail with subtle facial features and finely braided hair on the back. The lady is shown wearing a traditional robe resembling a saree and has a parrot perched on her right shoulder. The wick holder is a deep and has thick walls. A lovely vintage collectible to own.
Paavai vilakku/Deepalakshmi/Lady Lamp is a lamp in the form of a lady holding a vessel in her hands. This type of lamp comes in different sizes, from very small to almost life-size. There are also large stone versions of this lamp in Hindu temples and shrines of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, especially at the base of columns and flanking the entrance of temples.
