Vintage Raja Ravi Varma chromolithograph of Goddess Laxmi

This is a very fine Raja Ravi Varma chromolithograph of Goddess Laxmi. This vintage lithograph is in lovely pleasing colours and portrays the goddess in her most serene avatar. The print is over 70 years old and was executed at the Malavli Press near Lonavla. It comes set in it original vintage wooden frame. An ideal piece for collectors.

We adore vintage oleographs and the process of restoring them is truly satisfying. These are the steps taken by The Blue Trunk to ensure that we are able to save a piece of history, increase its life and retain its authentic charm. 

1. The vintage frame sometimes gets loose and worn out due to age. We test the frame for its stability and incase the damage is severe, we change the frame.

2. We change the glass used in the frame and replace it with acrylic so that it does not get damaged during shipping.

3. Most of the vintage prints have a metal backing which many times gets corroded due to exposure to air and moisture. The corroded surface can stain the wall surface and hence we most times replace it with a new high density fibre board backing.

We try our best to retain the original charm of these oleographs and bring them to you in a renewed form.
